A framework developed by Robert Jason Grant

I am trained in Autplay therapy - this is a framework that works with neurodivergent children and their parents to manage associated challenges.
Autplay is complementary to Child Centred Play Therapy. It works with the needs of the child and focuses on the best way to help them find coping strategies.
The aim of the framework is to:
Increase self esteem
To build self worth
To respect their neurotype
To help address any mental health challenges they have as a result of difference to a societal norm
Help them to understand any needs they have
Children this might apply to are children with:
Autism
ADHD
Sensory needs
Learning needs
Intellectual differences
Pathological Demand Avoidance
Tourette's
Highly sensitive people
(This is a non exhaustive list)
A typical programme using Autplay framework might look like:
All Autplay relies on relationship development, and learning through the relationship we build.
Sessions 1-3 information gathering, involving parent, school and observing
Sessions 4 onwards: we would implement the structured play therapy phase, this would not have a particular amount of sessions but would be child led around their needs.
Termination phase: Closing sessions, approximately 3 to reflect on the work, and feedback to parents and schools.
